FAQ- Portrait Sessions

How long does the process take?

We recommend calling the studio 1-2 months before your expected session date and time, although we are occasionally are able to fit last minute sessions. We recommend calling the studio in your second trimester for Maternity and Newborn sessions, this way we can pencil in your session based around your due date.

Once your session has been officially booked, we will email you info to get excited for your session, which may also help answer any additional questions you have about wardrobe etc.. For booking- we email a proposal with contract and collect a session fee to secure your date and time. After you are booked we will also set up a phone consult prior to your session to answer any questions you may have. After your session has been completed, we will schedule your viewing session, approx 1-2 weeks after your shoot. At this session we show you your custom slideshow, then help you decide on any product you may want for your images. After your order, product fulfillment can take up to 6-8 weeks, depending on the product ordered. For example, prints can take 1-2 weeks, while frames or gallery wraps can take 6 weeks.

When should I schedule my Maternity Session?

We recommend that a maternity shoot be scheduled close to your 30-week mark. Give us a call in your second trimester to book!

When is the best time for Newborn Portraits?

We recommend scheduling your newborn session within the first 10 days of your little ones life. At that point they are sleepy and moldable so we can get them into positions easily and safely. Most Momma’s to be schedule around their due date and give us a call at the hospital to firm up a session time once the baby has arrived. If you missed the 1-10 day time period, not problem at all, we would just modify the shots to safely accommodate the age you your baby. One way we do this is with swaddling.

When is the best time for baby photos?

Babies are so much fun to photograph when they have started developing their personalities and smiles! 6-9 months is a great time to capture this, as they are sitting up.

When is the best time for Senior Sessions?

We love photographing Senior Sessions the spring/summer prior to senior year. We typically photograph these sessions in Ocean Grove, since there are lots of beautiful Victorian buildings and the beach is right there as well. We can also shoot at other locations as well, feel free to give us a call with what you have in mind.

When is the best time to schedule my Holiday Session?

We typically suggest September-November for your holiday session to ensure your photos and product will be ready before the holidays. In order to receive products for the holiday season, you should book your session before November 15th. We cannot guarantee products arriving before Christmas for sessions booked after the 15th.

Do you offer Mini Sessions?

Yes! Throughout the year we offer an exclusive number of promotions on our facebook page- so be sure to be on the lookout! Aside from those, we offer the Little Hugs Session, which is a shorter more affordable session.

What should I wear and what do I need to know to prepare for my shoot?

When you book your session with us, we will schedule a pre-session consult call. This will help us get to know you prior to your session and help answer any of the questions you may have. We also send out welcome information to help with wardrobe etc!

What type of products do you offer?

All of our products are completely custom-designed by our in-house graphic designer. We offer everything from wallets to huge wall displays with multiple frames. For our complete product guide contact the studio or check out our featured products on the blog.

Do you offer Gift Certificates?

Yes we do, for a specific amount or for a specific session! We find these are popular baby shower gifts for the expecting parents. Contact us to arrange for shipping or pick-up of your gift certificate!

Can you come to my house?

Yes. Any session can be an on-location session at your home for an additional fee. Please contact the studio for travel pricing.

What are the differences between a session in studio verses on location?

We love both in studio and on location sessions…simply because we love shooting! Studio sessions are recommended for newborn shoots, mainly because we can control all the variables that go into a successful baby shoot (i.e. the heat) In studio sessions offer unique sets and props, and because there are less distractions, we can get the attention of kids and babies under the age of 3 for longer. On location shoots can be candid and fun depending on the time of year. We typically schedule 2 session dates for outdoor shoots incase the weather is an issue.

What should I bring to my ordering appointment?

We make your ordering session fun and easy….and we have the tissues! We will start your viewing session with a customized slideshow set to music. We then walk you through our products and our Create a Collection ordering. Make sure you have reviewed the product guide prior to your viewing session. If you plan to purchase wall art- send us a photo of your wall with a sheet of letter paper taped to it. We can show you exactly what your wall art will look like at home!

Do you sell digital files?

We do sell digital files. As a full service boutique studio, we want to get your images off your devices and onto your walls to be loved an enjoyed for years to come. This is why our Create a Collection is so popular…you get discounted digitals with a Wall Art or Legacy Albums.
